YANCE DAY

2021 World Champion

Bareback Rider

HOMETOWN:  Mannford, OK                                          AGE: 32

Day came into IFR52 in the number 3 position in the top 15 but left the Lazy E Arena with both the IFR average win and his first world championship. “My goal was to win the average and the world title,” said Yance.  “I just had a feeling that I was going to get it done.”

Yance earned the Rookie of the Year in 2010 and says that winning the world title has changed things for him.  “It’s different when I go ride now, it makes me more aggressive and fuels my fire to win.  I still do everything the same, but there’s a difference, it’s hard to explain.”

“The rodeo that stood out to me in 2021 had to be St. Tite, even with the covid restrictions it was still an awesome rodeo.  The horse I liked to draw was Hampton Pro Rodeo’s C314 Priefert Rancher, I had that horse at both Miami, OK and Harrison, AR.  I was 85 points at both rodeos, that’s the one to draw.  I want to draw the big, scary buckers that no one else wants to get on.  I’m an aggressive rider and not all the horses can take that.”

“My plan is to come back strong in ’22 and come back to IFR53 and repeat my gold buckle win.  I’m working out like crazy and working my spur board to stay sharp.”

Yance works as a dump truck driver when he’s not on the road.  His slogan is

“Driving Big Trucks and Spurring Things that Buck”!
