IFR51 was the second time for Deklan to be front and center on the IFR stage. “At IFR50, I’d only been on the road 4-5 months and was at the bottom of the pack, the goal was just to make the IFR,” said Deklan. “In 2020 I planned to give it everything I had and traveled the miles. I didn’t ride the best through the year, but good enough to get back to the finals.”
“The IFR was anybody’s game, I felt lots of pressure before that first bull. I scored 82.5 points on “Sun Power” from All American Rodeo, that round win helped me a lot. I bucked off my 2nd round bull and he was one of my favorite bulls to draw, that was pretty disheartening. I came back in round 3 and earned second with 82.75 points. I didn’t have any luck on my 4th round bull, but it was enough to win the world title. Lukasey Morris won the average and nearly caught me, but it all worked out.”
“This year I’m going to slow down and not travel as much. I want to get back to the IFR and see where it goes.”
